Film Poster Analysis

This was the film poster for the film Legend, a UK social realism film on crime set in the 60s. The film is about two gangster brothers who are the subject of the films poster. This is a great film poster to use as inspiration as it is a recent film of the same genre and i also really like the layout. Like a typical film poster it contains the films main star, in this case Tom Hardy. Showing the main actors involved will attract there fans and attract a specific audience. It has a black on white kind of colour scheme which i feel works really well because it makes a bold poster that really stands out. There is not that much on the poster and its actually quite basic, theirs a lot of empty space with the release date, film title and the films slogan. i think that in many circumstances less is more and in this case it has really worked well creating an all round effective poster that is really powerful. This kind of poster is the type that i would like to achieve for my film. i think this style definitely suits the genre of the film as well. The role of the film poster is to catch the attention of people in order to watch the film, its an important way of advertising. Poster such as these would be advertised in places such as public transport and outside cinemas depending on the films budget.
